I've been using WXTide for almost 10 years and really appreciate it. Will the new version work with the old database. I'm asking since we are heading to Ireland and Great Britain next summer. Thanks again for the great product. Martin Harris

Brilliant website! Really useful. Why can't the RYA have this info? I am a sailing software engineer in England, who can't understand why basic algorithms for information like tide tables are not provided by government agencies FOC. Your website is an example of what I see the web being used for in the future.

Very useful. I've written a small add-on that uses a batch daily tide report to interpolate a 90 day listing of chart numbers for the Canadian Current Atlas. Note: a minor bug in daily tide report lists New Moon as First Quarter Moon.

I found your program 4 years ago when I was vacationing in Virginia Beach, VA (In the Sandbridge Area). It's useful every year the week I use it when I stay in an oceanfront house. I just installed it on my home machine because I miss the waves. :) Thank you for your program.

Re: WXTIDE32: Very nice S/W indeed. One thing that I would find useful (especially for trip planning) is the following: 1) Allow the user to show both Current and Tide information on one graph. Maybe this means running the application twice at the moment ? 2) Align Both Current and Tide information to the same day and allow the cursor to follow both simaltaneously. Maybe this would be another mode ? 3) Alow the user to add adjustments to the Current information. This is usually given as a time difference (from the reference current) and a height deviation. In the Tide books here in San Francisco these are usually given as: + or - Time => The deviation time at which the current occurs in your area + or - or * Current (Knots) => addition factor for your area where + and - are deviations and * = multiplication factor for the current speed 4) To be able to save (and automatically load) your settings. This would include the adjustment parameters given in (3) above. 5) This is really a wish but if you have time to experiment: To be able to put your course waypoints (GPS) into a file and estimated speed at each waypoint (spreadsheet style) and the software would calculate the Tide and current at those points (taking into account your speed). This would really help on planning since you should then know the theoretical tidal and current information. As mentioned in (3) there would also probably need to be some adjustments for the various waypoints (since these will not be reference buoys etc). Even estimates would be good. 6) To do #5 but allow a GPS device to be connected to the serial port of the PC. Bingo! A new realtime tidal tracking piece of s/w. Please keep up the good work on this. I will absolutely recommend this to many of my friends. Gareth.

I really enjoyed your site and the cruising notes you have there. I have recently found a Rafiki 35 (Forever Young), here in Ft. lauderdale. BUT, after reading about the tanks leaking, the bottom blistering and the engine being replaced - well, to be sure I am gun shy. I may go forward with it and try to get a really good survey. Thanks for all the good information on what worked for you on your cruise and the folks you met during that period. I'd be interested in learning where you are now and what your plans are?.. Since more than a year I use the WXtide32 program to check if I can go sailing or not. I have my sailng boat on the river Tiber, a mile or so from the sea. We have only a few feet of tide (I take Civitavecchia as reference)but this is often enough to sit with the keel in the mud when I would like to go sailing in the morning and cannot get out. In case you would come to Rome please let me know. There is always lasagna. Thanks very much for your very usefull tide computation software which is alway right, also on the Tiber! Hi, I've been using WXTide for ages - great program - wouldn't be without it. But now I discover that I can't get the latest version because it doesn't cover the UK :-( How can the UKHO claim copyright on tidal information?!!! What the *&!& are they on? Still, it just goes to show that 'rip off Britain' is still alive and well. Thanks anyway for providing such a fantastic utility for many years. Guess I'll have to make do with the old version. Wonder how accurate the data will become in later years though :-(

Your tide program was selected as the best of several such programs in an article that appeared in the current (March, 03) issue of Cruising World. I checked out your web site and followed the instructions for downloading. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but from what little I have played with it, I am sure it will prove useful to me. Thanks for providing this great service. I was also interested in your comments as to what worked for you during your extended cruise. The tips about power use and generation should help guide me. Thanks again.

Hi...I've been useing this great little tide prog for some time and I find it very handy as I live right on the Sechelt Rapids in BC. I can use the Wxtide for a quick boo at what the rapids are doing before making plans. I finally got some scratch togeather to get a machine that runs Win 98 and found I had to upgrade to a new WXtide. I did this and to my horror found every current station in the world, except Sechelt Rapids. I've tried reading all the related stuff but I can't follow it very well. Your my last hope. Please tell me I'm missing something real simple :.) Thanks........Fred

Regarding UK tidal elevation data ================================= UK Tidal elevation data is freely available through the UK National Tidal and Sea Level Facility. The UKHO do not own copyright on data collected by us. It is therefore possible to use the data to calculate your own harmonics and hence you own tidal predictions if you want. Cheers

Since the boat is parked on the river bank, I need to know right tide and right tide to avoid hassles moving the boat from the river bank and the overhead bridge, the program is just a click away and I should be prepared to launch my boat on time. Thanks a lot!!!!

Very nice little tool. Too bad about the UKHO, makes it harder to verify the manual calculation for Dover...Unfortunately, there is no tide in the Baltic, the differences in depth are seasonal and induced by the weather. This has led to an occasional keel scratch... However, very nice tool. Will it be available for Palm as well?

After correction suggested for Location GIBRALTAR i can print the tidal predictions for italian locations. Such predictions are fully comparable with those OFFICIAL published by ISTITUTO IDROGRAFICO DELLA MARINA Coul it be possible to incorporate the Harmonic constants for Italian sites CAGLIARI and LA MADDALENA ?. I could fax you the data I have Tide24 already does it. LAST QUESTION Is there a procedure (or suggestions) to acquire data for a new site in order to define the relevant Harmonic constants? I think your WXTide is fantastic! I'm a birdwatcher and need reasonably accurate high tide times, weeks ahead, so I can plan my jaunts to the coast. The latest version 2.7 without England is a terrible blow. I don't see how anyone can own copyright to the tides. Bureaucracy gone mad!!Smacks of 'King Canute' mentality to me. I will hopefully track down an early version to keep for re-formatting purposes. Thanks for such a superb programme.

I've used this tide program for quite a few years now, while fishing for trophy King/Chinook salmon in British Columbia. Great info ... cross checks with commercial tide data and little error is exhibited. What I'd like to see in the future: A means of easily finding max and min tides throughout the year. Minimum tides are generally used for clamming, looking at tide pools, etc. Max tides are usually associated with detecting good 'fish runs'. Also may be associated with earthquake prediction. Anyway, thanks again for a great product.

In water, light speed drops to 140,000 miles per second. In a diamond, the speed of light slows to 77,500 miles per second, 41.66% slower than in space!

Downloaded the program last year and still have it on my desktop. I fish for striped bass on the falling tides and can plan fishing trips and times to within 1 hour of good fishing. Appreciate the software very much. If you are looking for potential features, a rolling 5-7 day view would be great. I use the monthly calendar a lot to look out for the following week-end but the visual shows me heights and how much current I can expect. Sincerely Brian Donovan

This program is amazing! Very accurate for waiheke (t), but only a few days, ok!.I've been using it for my fishing predictions; tersting out the 'Maori calender' system(certain days are good, average or bad, moon overhead or below, etc) Daylight saving seems to be done manually? Could the prog be changed to show the moon position every day? I've set my program to only show my settings, made .cfg file read only so no changes occur on exit.

We've been using various versions of wxtide for the last few years -- it beats any of the commercial programs we've seen, and we thank you for all the effort you've put into it. WxTide is a very well constructed program. It is great to have such quality program for free! Unfortunately, like you mention on your web site, the data for St-Lawrence region isn't very accurate. It's a copyright matter as I understand? I find it very cheap that organisation responsable for tidal date refuse to give them to people like you for free. Because you do a great software that can be very useful.

Very useful for planning activities as birdcounts and excursions in the Danish Wadden Sea. But I found it confusing, with double sets of data from Esbjerg, (Denmark)(T) and 2(T). Set 2 seems to have added 50cm two much to the daily max. Same failure seems to count for the location Hojer Sluice (t). Dauky minimum level seems to fit OK with data from the national meteorogical station DMI http://www.dmi.dk/vejr/ Can this be confirmed and corrected? Yours Lars

Hi and thank you for such a wonderful program (Wintide). I am using it since about 2 years now as I live 100 meters away from the river Weser and I watch the tides every day. And to see, if the waters are high or low, I start Wintide.
